CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (15th July) and cover positions up to Tuesday (July 12th). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions, however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

- Gold – Net position long and decreasing
Due to risk affinity environment, gold suffered a big drop in net long position. The net long position declined by 18,500 contracts to +297.5K contracts.
- Copper – Net position short and decreasing
Copper net short position saw a relatively large decrease. Net short position decreased by 5,239 contracts to -14.2K contracts.
- Silver – Net position long and increasing
The net-long position in silver rose by 1,898 contracts to +87.6K contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Crude oil saw a sizable decrease in net long positions by 4,877 contracts to +294.8K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and increasing
Natural gas registered an increase in net short position by 3,576 contracts to -138.9K contracts.
