Philadelphia-based retailer Lapstone & Hammer is set to enhance their DIY-themed collaboration with ASICS by introducing three additional colorways to the acclaimed "Dip Dye" series.
This innovative collection, which initially captured attention with the "Indigo" Gel-NYC and Gel-1130 releases, is now welcoming "Coffee," "Matcha," and "Ube" editions of the Gel-Kayano 14, available exclusively at Lapstone & Hammer starting this Saturday.
Inspired by Morning Beverages
According to Complex, the latest additions to the "Dip Dye" series draw inspiration from the daily ritual of enjoying a caffeinated beverage, with each of the new colorways paying tribute to a specific drink. This thematic connection to daily routines adds a personal touch to the sneakers, emphasizing the significance of these rituals in our lives.
The hand dip-dyed mesh and suede uppers ensure that no two pairs are identical, offering a unique footwear experience.
Handcrafted Hues
Sneaker Bar Detroit noted that the "Coffee" colorway brings to life the rich, familiar essence of a morning brew with its deep brown tones. The "Matcha" edition captures the spirit of the traditional Japanese green tea with its vibrant green hues. Lastly, "Ube," a nod to the popular Filipino purple yam, presents a playful purple shade.
This collection pays homage to these beloved beverages and highlights the global influence of these flavors in contemporary culture.
Availability and Pricing
The "Dip Dye" Asics Gel-Kayano 14 colorways, including a reintroduction of the indigo style, are slated for release on May 18, 2024. Sneaker enthusiasts can snag their pair exclusively at Lapstone & Hammer's Philadelphia store at 1106 Chestnut Street. Following the in-store launch, any remaining pairs will be available online at 12:00 PM ET at Lapstoneandhammer.com. Both men's and women's versions are available, with each pair retailing for $200.
This unique collection bridges the gap between tradition and contemporary style, offering sneaker aficionados a chance to inject a piece of their morning routine into their footwear collection. With each pair reflecting the individuality of its wearer through bespoke dip-dyed designs, the "Dip Dye" pack is a testament to personal expression and the craft of sneaker-making.
