One of the few bright spots for the dollar this week is against the yen. Though generally lower, the dollar has gained a little ground against the yen this week, a reflection of improved risk sentiment with markets in Japan and the U.S. reaching fresh milestone highs.
Japan's Nikkei stock index hit 15-year highs above 20,000 while the U.S. Nasdaq closed Thursday at a new record peak for the first time in 15 years.
As appetite grows for riskier assets, safer, lower-yielding ones like the yen underperform.
