The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover index of Italy rose 4.1 percent in sequential terms in August, according to the official statistical office Istat. In domestic market it was up 4.1 percent, whereas it rose 4.3 percent in non-domestic market. The percentage change of the average of the last three months as compared to the prior three months was 1.9 percent.
Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted industrial new orders index rose sharply by 10.2 percent month-on-month in August, whereas the percentage change of the average of the last three months as compared to the prior three months was 8.3 percent, according to Istat. This is after the new order index dropped markedly by 10.4 percent in July after recovering strongly in June. The new order index for domestic market was up 12.3 percent, whereas for non-domestic market it rose 7.1 percent.
On a year-on-year basis, the calendar adjusted industrial turnover index was up sharply by 6.8 percent. On the other hand the unadjusted new orders index also surged 15.9 percent year-on-year after declining in July. The seasonally adjusted volume turnover index in annual terms recorded a rise of 3.8 percent.
