Institutional Surge: U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs Cross $1 Billion in 3-Day Inflows as Ethereum Lags

Over a three-day period from August 17 to August 19, 2026, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a significant comeback in institutional demand, capturing about $1.004 billion in net inflows. Beginning with $297.6 million on Monday, August 17, then $189.3 million on Tuesday, August 18, and culminating with a staggering $517.2 million single-day influx on Wednesday, August 19, capital flows soared fast throughout the period. This purchasing frenzy basically ended a previous trend of outflows and emphasizes considerable institutional interest even as general crypto market circumstances stayed consolidation-bound.

By contrast, spot Ethereum ETFs had less movement and over the same three-day period brought in an estimated total of $150 million to $200 million. Daily projections show a slow start on August 17 with about $40–50 million, staying steady at around $38.0 million on August 18, then rising to almost $112.0 million by August 19. Though Ethereum's net flows were always favorable, they only made up a small fraction of the liquidity headed into Bitcoin funds.

The striking difference between the two flagship digital assets highlights Bitcoin's unique predominance as the main means of classic Wall Street capital looking for crypto exposure. Although Ethereum still draws consistent institutional interest, the sheer scope of the $1 billion flow into Bitcoin ETFs shows that investors still lean strongly toward BTC during market turnarounds.
