We at FxWirePro feel that immigration is going to be the most important issue for the voters in the election of 2017. This year three elections are scheduled in Europe; Netherlands (March), France (April-May), and Germany (September). This latest pan-European poll, conducted by the respected Royal Institute of International Affairs, popularly known as the Chatham House, show that majority of the Europeans back an immigration halt from Muslim countries. More than 10,000 people from 10 European countries took part in the poll. People were asked whether they agree or disagree with the following statement,

“All further migration from Muslim countries should be stopped”

  • More than 70 percent in Poland agreed with the statement, compared to less than 10 percent disagreeing to it.
  • In Belgium, France, Austria, and in Hungary more than 60 percent of the respondents agreed to the statement. Less than 20 percent in all these countries disagreed to it.
  • In countries like Greece, Germany, and Italy, more than 50 percent of the respondents agreed to the statement with around 20 percent disagreeing to it.
  • Only in Spain and the UK, less than 50 percent support that statement (still above 40 percent) and less than 30 percent disagreeing to it.

If this poll is closer to being accurate, then the rightwing, anti-immigrant parties have real chances of winning this year.
