"Hawaii Five-0" season 9 is set to air with two new villains, among whom is a woman who will make crime solving more complicated for the police task force in the state of Hawaii.
TV Line reported that Rochelle Aytes, who played April Malloy in ABC’s “Mistresses,” is joining the cast for “Hawaii Five-0” season 9. The actress was revealed to have been assigned to play a CIA operative named Greer.
Her character in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 is someone who is “sharp, smart, and calculating.” It was added that in the past, she was romantically involved with Lieutenant Commander Steven J. McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin), but despite this, Greer is dangerous now and cannot be trusted.
“A character named Greer was introduced in that first episode, and she had a relationship with McGarrett ‘back in the day,’ when he was in uniform,” executive producer Peter M. Lenkov said. “She’s going to be a Big Bad in the first couple of episodes.”
Rochelle Aytes's character will appear right in the very first episode of “Hawaii Five-0” season 9. She will be part of the show’s premiere that will pay homage to the series’s 50th anniversary. To commemorate its beginnings, a two-part remake of the very first episode that aired on Sept. 20, 1968 will be the season opener.
“Yep!!! For those who guessed it... we’re redoing the 1968 pilot 'Cocoon' for our season 9 premiere of #h50 - best way to celebrate our 50th anniversary- honoring the original and creator Leonard Freeman,” Lenkov wrote on Instagram.
Like the original, the premiere telecast is titled “Cocoon” and will feature the same story. But there will be slight changes to keep up with the times. An upgraded version is likely since a lot has changed since, such as the work settings and technologies.
Along with the new, an old villain character will be back in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9. As announced, the show is bringing back bringing back Wo Fat, an old enemy who is set to return to the Big Island.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Mark Dacascos has been called back to reprise his 2010 role as Wo Fat, a former agent of the Chinese government and mortal enemy of Steve McGarrett. The original Wo Fat, who first appeared in 1968, was played by Khigh Dhiegh.
“Hawaii Five-0” season 9 will air on Sept. 28 at p.m. on CBS.
