Guide to today’s important data and events

Lot of economic dockets to be released today, however the risks associated with the releases are moderate.

Data released so far -

  • China - Manufacturing PMI came at 50.2, whereas non-manufacturing PMI came at 53.2. HSBC manufacturing PMI remained in contractionary zone at 49.4.
  • Australia - Building permits rose by 2.4% in May on monthly basis and 17.6% from a year ago.
  • Japan - PMI came at 50.1 in June, lower than prior 50.9. Vehicle sales grew by 5.4% in June from a year ago, up from 1.4% in May.
  • Spain - Manufacturing PMI dropped to 54.5.
  • Germany - Manufacturing PMI came at 51.9 for June.
  • Italy - Markit manufacturing PMI for June came at 54.1.
  • France - Manufacturing PMI grew to 50.7 in June.
  • Euro zone - Manufacturing PMI rose to 52.5 in June.
  • Switzerland - PMI came in Neutral zone of 50 in June.
  • UK - Markit manufacturing PMI came at 51.4 in June, lower than prior 51.9

Upcoming -

  • UK - BOE governor Mark Carney is scheduled to speak at 9:30 GMT and release financial stability report.
  • Euro zone - Euro group to hold conference to discuss state of play in Greece.
  • US - Lot of economic dockets scheduled for today. MBA mortgage application at 11:00 GMT. Followed by Challenger Job cuts at 11:30 GMT. Crucial data for today is ADP employment. ADP employment data scheduled for release at 12:15 GMT. Prior reading was 201,000, today's expectation 218,000. Markit manufacturing PMI is scheduled at 13:45 GMT, followed by ISM manufacturing PMI at 14:00 GMT. EIA will release crude inventory details at 14:30 GMT.
