Guide to today’s important data and events

Lot of economic dockets be released today and some with high risks associated.

Data released so far 

  • Australia - Australia building permits rose 9.2% in December, but down -2.5% from a year ago. Trade balance for December came at -$3.53 billion, exports dropped 5% and imports dropped 1%.
  • China - Caixin services PMI rose to 52.4 in January from 50.2 in December.
  • UK - BRC shop price index dropped 1.8% in January after declining 2% in December.
  • Japan - Consumer confidence for January came at 42.5 in January.

Upcoming 

  • Spain - Markit services PMI will be released at 8:15 GMT.
     
  • Italy - Markit services PMI will be released at 8:45 GMT. Consumer price index for January will be released at 10:00 GMT.
     
  • France - Markit services PMI will be released at 8:50 GMT.
     
  • Germany - Markit services PMI will be released at 8:55 GMT.
     
  • Euro Zone - Markit services PMI will be released at 9:00 GMT. ECB will hold non-monetary policy meeting today. European commission will release its economic forecast at 10:00 GMT, along with retail sales for December.
     
  • UK - Markit services PMI will be released at 9:30 GMT.
     
  • US - MBA mortgage applications to be released at 12:00 GMT, followed by ADP employment at 13:15 GMT and Markit services PMI at 14:45 GMT. ISM non-manufacturing PMI will be released at 15:00 GMT. EIA will release weekly crude inventory report at 15:30 GMT.
     
  • New Zealand - RBNZ asst. governor McDermott scheduled to speak at 22:30 GMT.
