Guide to today’s important data and events

Not many economic dockets scheduled for today, all with low to medium risks associated.

Data released so far 

  • Australia - Trade balance for November came at -$2.906 billion. Exports rose by 1%, while imports dropped by 1%. Building permits dropped by -12.7% in November.
     
  • China - Caixin services PMI for December dropped to 50.2 from 51.2 prior.

 Upcoming

  • Germany - Retail sales to be released from Germany today and Factory orders at 7:00 GMT.
  • UK - Halifax house price index might get released today.
  • Switzerland - SNB would declare FX reserve at 8:00 GMT.
  • Italy - Unemployment for November to be released at 9:00 GMT.
  • Euro Zone - Euro Zone confidence data, along with November unemployment report and retail sales to be released at 10:00 GMT. ECB will release minutes at 12:30 GMT.
  • US - Not many dockets from US today. Challenger job cuts at 12:30 GMT, followed by weekly jobless claims at 13:30 GMT EIA will release weekly natural gas inventory report at 15:30 GMT.
  • Canada - IVEY PMI to be released at 15:00 GMT.
  • Australia - AIG performance of construction index to be released at 22:30 GMT.
  • Japan - BOJ would announce FX reserve at 23:50 GMT.
  • Auctions - Italy would auction 5 and 10 year bond. Spain will auction 10 year bond. France will auction 10 year bond.
