Greece confident on August 20th deadline payment to ECB

Greece expressed its confidence that it will have a new bailout in two weeks, in time to make the 20 August deadline payment to the ECB, but winning a parliamentary majority may still prove an uphill task for PM Tsipras.

"Perhaps the message of optimism will lead the ECB to take a kind view at today's non-monetary policy meeting, where the central bank will review the ELA ceiling", says Societe Generale.

Greek government spokeswoman Gerovasili said early elections are "likely" amid dissent within Syriza.
