Toys ”R” Us has partnered with NFT platform Ethernity for the release of its first non-fungible token collection featuring its star mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe™.
The series of exclusive limited-edition NFTs from digital artist Bryan Lopez, aka Exacto, are for sale on OpenSea.
The NFT collection also has a 1-of-1 piece, dubbed “The Geoffrey Stroll,” which will be auctioned live. The 3D animation features Geoffrey as he steps into a bright new future with an instrumental version of Toys ”R” Us jingle ‘I Don’t Want to Grow Up, I’m a Toys ”R” Us Kid’ playing.
The buyer of “The Geoffrey Stroll” and a guest will have the chance to attend a Toys ”R” Us store grand opening in the US in 2022, including transportation and a two-night hotel stay.
Others in the collection delve into pop-art style, including Warhol-inspired modern portraits of Geoffrey. There's also the “Geoffrey Through the Years” series containing six separate editions of the world-famous giraffe as he looked throughout different eras beginning in 1960.
Yehuda Shmidman, Chairman and CEO of WHP Global and Toys ”R” Us. noted that entering the blockchain allows them to broaden their engagement with their loyal and expanding community of Toys ”R” Us fans.
Toys ”R” Us would be returning to the US through a strategic partnership with Macy’s, and to the UK through a partnership with Toys ”R” ANZ.
