Global Geo-political Series: Trump takes jab at NAFTA during Phoenix rally

The U.S. President Donald Trump has once again taken a jab at the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) during a firebrand rally in Phoenix, Arizona. This is for the first time the President has revived the idea of canceling NAFTA altogether since he said in April that his administration stands ready to renegotiate the NAFTA agreement after he talked with his Canadian and Mexican counterparts. This is also his first public remark on NAFTA agreement since the renegotiation talks began in Washington earlier this month.

Here are his remarks on NAFTA,

“We have begun formal renegotiation with Mexico and Canada on NAFTA…..We started two days ago, Bob Lighthizer. Personally, I don’t think we can make a deal because we have been so badly taken advantage of. They have made such great deals. Both of the countries, but in particularly Mexico that I don’t think we can make a deal. So, I think we will end up probably terminating NAFTA at some point. Probably, but I told you from the first day that we will renegotiate NAFTA or we will terminate NAFTA…..we’re going to see what happens”.
