“GTA 6” is still in development at the moment and it seems Rockstar Games are mapping out where exactly they want the narrative to take place. Right now, the studio hasn’t announced anything about the title and that has been the case for quite some time.

However, audiences have been returning to the past statements made by those involved in the production of “GTA 6” in order to have an idea where the game will take place. Rockstar President Leslie Benzie previously said that it’s not the lack of idea that is prolonging the title’s release but the inundation of it.

“We’ve got about 45 years’ worth of ideas we want to do,” Benzies said. “We’ll pick the right ones. It comes from the idea first. Where [GTA 6] is going to be set is the first question. That then defines the missions; you’re doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.”

Right now, the most likely candidate for the location of “GTA 6” is Vice City, the game’s version of Miami. Apparently, the location is being pushed forward because Rockstar will be including areas south of the border.

This narrative is bolstered by a rumor floating around that “GTA 6” is currently in development under the codename “Project Americas.” The moniker is supposedly referencing to the possibility of missions going beyond the borders of the United States, bleeding into undisclosed location somewhere in South America.

Of course, all of these are but rumors and they should be taken with heavy skepticism. But even though this is the case, fans are still trying to figure out which among these rumors will make its way into “GTA 6.”

Some fans are saying that a new map is needed for the sixth installment in order to spice things up and provide fresh areas that players can explore. But given the studio’s reputation, most of the franchise’s fans are content to leave the developers alone. “Red Dead Redemption 2” is the latest assurance of Rockstar that once “GTA 6” is released, it’s going to propel the RPG genre to new heights.
