Fundamentals remain robust for recovery in UK spending

UK April retail sales figure (09.30 BST) should hopefully show that March's fall of -0.5% was just temporary. 

Indeed, with wage growth strengthening, unemployment low and falling, confidence high, and consumers yet to spend their entire windfall from lower food and energy prices, the fundamentals for the recovery in spending remain robust.
