French election: Odds for Macron Presidency improves after latest polls

The latest survey conducted by Opinionway showed that the former economy minister Emmanuel Macron, a centrist independent candidate is set to win the French election and with an improved margin. According to the survey, the dreaded National Front Leader Marine Le Pen who has promised to take France out of the single currency area will win the first round of the election with 26 percent of all votes, a percent down from the previous polling. Mr. Macron will come in the second place with 23 percent support and François Fillon would come third with 21 percent support. Ongoing fake jobs scandal has pushed the front-runner Fillon to the third place. All polls released so far show that Monsieur Macron would beat Madame Le Pen in the second round of one on one showdown. The latest poll number suggests Macon beating Le Pen with 58-42 percent margin.

After this latest polls, odds for Macron Presidency improved, below are the odds for top three candidates,

  • The market is pricing the chance of winning for Emmanuel Macron: 47 percent, up from 38 percent a week ago.
  • The market is pricing the chance of winning for Marine le Pen: 32 percent, down from 35 percent.
  • The market is pricing the chance of winning for Francois Fillon: 23 percent, down from 29 percent a week ago.
