French Election: Latest polls and market odds

With less than a month remaining, all the top candidates are sharpening the words to attack each other. Speaking of the front-runner Emmanuel Macron, the Front National leader Marine Le Pen said, “In general one does not understand anything what he says, but when one understands what he says, it is rather disturbing”. She also labeled Macron as a candidate for whom there is no French culture. She was referring to Emmanuel Macron’s suggestion that there was an absence of culture in France. However, latest poll conducted by Ipsos show that Madame Le Pen is going to win the first round of the election with 25 percent of all votes and the front runner Emmanuel Macron will receive 24 percent of all votes. Previous front-runner conservative Francois Fillon will receive 18 percent of all votes. The same poll also shows that Macron will beat Le Pen by 62-38 margin.

The betting market is also predicting the same. Since the Dutch election the odds for a Macron presidency has been growing and currently, the market is pricing a 67 percent chance of a Macron victory. Chances are really slim for Le Pen with just 27 percent probability.
