Epic Games just released its “Fortnite” 5.10 patch notes and the list comes with a lot of great surprises. For starters, the battle royale mode is getting a new sub-machine gun that gun fanatics might say is quite reminiscent of the FN P90. The update also marks the birthday celebration of the game, and players have the opportunity to earn a new cosmetic item.
The “Fortnite” 5.10 patch notes can be found on the official Epic website and as described on the page, "Fortnite" is celebrating its first birthday. It’s hard to believe that it has only been a year since the battle royale game started absolutely taking over the world, and it’s not even done yet. In celebration of its successful 365 days, give or take, the developers have some surprise for fans of the game.
“Celebrate #Fortnite1st with friends. Find birthday cake throughout the world and earn special cosmetics by completing challenges and quests in-game,” the update’s description reads. “Playground is back and better than before. Challenge your friends to a duel and build incredible structures on your own private island. Wield the new Legendary weapon in Battle Royale, the Compact SMG.
“The Save the World storyline continues in the Canny Valley campaign. Get in-game and complete the Fortnite Birthday questline to unlock a special birthday reward!”
With regards to the Compact SMG included in the “Fortnite” 5.10 patch notes, the firearm appears to have been modeled after the real-life sub-machine gun called the FN P90. It’s a popular weapon that is often featured in pop culture, which makes it an excellent addition to the battle royale game.
It was also noted by a developer on Reddit that the numbering for the updates has changed. As attentive players might have noticed, the “Fortnite” 5.10 patch is supposed to be 5.1. According to the developer, the new “versioning strategy” is fairly new. Going forward, smaller patches will be numbered with something like 5.10.1 or 5.11, and major patches will be 5.20 and so on.
