Edge launches multi-asset wallet with SegWit support for Bitcoin and Litecoin

Cryptocurrency wallet provider Edge has announced that its multi-asset wallet is now available for download on iOS and Android.

Previously Airbitz, Edge said that the launch is the result of over a year of intense development and follows over three months in a limited release beta. Similar to the Airbitz Wallet, the Edge Wallet utilizes the company’s open source “Edge Security” architecture.

According to the official release, Edge ships with native support for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Augur REP, and Wings tokens. It also includes support for Segregated Witness (SegWit) transactions for both Bitcoin and Litecoin.

“We’re also the only multi-asset mobile wallet that allows users to manually add ERC-20 tokens that we don’t natively support!” Edge said. “Edge employs a modular architecture that allows it to secure and transact with any blockchain or token. Developers of other blockchains are welcome to contribute support for their blockchain through a simple plugin which enables Edge users to transact their digital asset. Users will see an increase in natively supported assets over time as developers all over the world work to integrate their network’s asset into our wallet.”

In addition, Edge said that it has tightly integrated support for ShapeShift, which will allow users to seamlessly convert funds between the various digital assets and tokens.

Going forward, Edge said that it work to migrate more of the rich functionality of Airbitz such as transaction history export, spending limits, and user selected nodes in its next few releases.

“We will also be hard at work incorporating the premium service plug-ins that many of the users in Airbitz enjoy, such as fiat exchanges and mobile top-ups. Edge users will not only see more assets integrated, they’ll also see more service integrations as more exchanges and crypto-related services “plug-in” to our wallet,” it added.
