Donald Trump Presidential Inauguration Speech 2017 Live Stream Recap: Protests, An Awkward Moment With The Obamas, And Future Plans

Oh, what a day. The official Inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America was filled with a lot of drama.

Prior to the inauguration ceremony, Trump and his wife Melania met with the Obamas, and the cameras captured what seemed to be an awkward moment. Buzzfeed noted how people thought Michelle Obama was caught off-guard with a large Tiffany box Melania handed off, as if it was a parting gift. Several noticed Michelle’s awkward pause and expression upon receiving the gift.

Moreover, Trump squashed doubts about the attendance in his Inauguration ceremony a rousing success.  Buzzfeed published aerial photo comparisons of the crowds during Trump’s and Obama’s inaugurations, which showed a glaring difference.

CBC.ca notes that the crowds at the inauguration ceremony seems to reflect Trump’s low approval ratings, of which 51 percent of Americans surveyed by Gallup did not approve Trump’s transition. Several members of the US Congress were noticeably absent at the ceremony, including congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis.

The inauguration day was also marred with protests left and right. Prior to the ceremony, The Independent said pro and anti-Trump sympathizers blocked public access on the National Mall. Other groups held similar campaigns around the White House and throughout downtown DC.

If there’s one group of people who remain anxious or hopeful about Trump leading the nation, it will be those who await his administration’s new regulations and policies. Although there wasn’t anything specific or discussed during Trump’s speech, one senior official told the New York Times that Trump’s plans will be revealed in the next 30 days.
