“Doctor Who” appears to be pulling all the stops this year.
“Harry Potter” series star David Bradley will be joining Peter Capaldi by reprising his role as the first Doctor. Express UK said Bradley first played the character in the sci-fi series’ 50th drama-documentary, An Adventure in Space and Time. Although William Hartnell was the original first Doctor, he has since passed away back in 1975.
Bradley is known in the “Harry Potter” film franchise as Argus Filch, the non-magical caretaker of Hogwarts. He also played Lord of the Crossings Walder Frey in “Game of Thrones,” of which he is expected to play again in the show’s seventh season this year.
Bradley and Capaldi’s Time Doctor characters will be featured in the BBC drama’s Christmas special following the exit of the Doctor’s current companion, Bill, played by Pearl Mackie. The Sun said the Christmas special will chronicle Capaldi’s last mission in the series as the 12th Doctor with the help of the 1st Doctor (Bradley).
Meanwhile, Season 10 will have the 12th Doctor face off against two versions of The Master. Michelle Gomez, who will play Missy in the season, is reportedly set to appear in a medieval-themed episode, while John Simm’s signature Master goatee look will be showcased as well. Although a new promo did not indicate whether the two characters will join forces in Season 10, it is only inevitable for the two to agree to work together to take down Capaldi’s twelfth Doctor, Screenrant observed.
“Doctor Who” returns with episode “Smile” on BBC on Saturday, April 22.
