Can’t get enough of your Disney favorites? The British people are in for a treat as Disney sets to launch their new subscription streaming service in Europe next month.
DisneyLife, the latest product of one of America’s leading media company, will provide subscribers an exclusive access to Disney’s various well-loved television shows, films, books and music, which include “Lady and the Tramp” and “Toy Story.” The monthly service fee is set at GBP9.99.
“This is the future, in many respects,” said Disney’s Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger. “We’re seeing more and more opportunities to reach consumers directly and not through middlemen, and we’re seeing consumers wanting product in different ways.”
Indeed, the Golden Age of Television is now replaced by the convenience of mobile apps. Iger stressed, “There’s a general sense that the world is going in this direction. There will be multichannel TV and we will be part of it, but the app experience offers many more layers (and) much more richness in content than a channel, where one program follows another program.”
In the meantime, VentureBeat reported that subscription service will initially be limited to the U.K., but Disney aims to launch it in other parts of Europe including Spain, Germany, Italy, and France.
