Amongst several ECB speakers the views on policy of Executive Board member Coeure will be in focus. He is seen as having relatively dovish views on policy.
In the US after last week's stellar ISM non-manufacturing and employment data, the NFIB index will provide an update on conditions in the small business sector.
In the UK, BoE Deputy Governor Cunliffe is likely to talk about macro-prudential policy measures. Of key interest will be the potential impact of these on housing, particularly following last week's Inflation Report, which suggested interest rates could stay lower for longer than previously expected, notes Lloyds Bank.
This week is a big one for Chinese data and the reports to be released early Wednesday morning will provide updates on whether economic conditions are stabilizing. They may be an important determinant as to whether the Chinese equity market is moving towards stabilization.
Likewise, French and Italian industrial production for September will provide updates on the strength of manufacturing activity in the euro area. Last week's German data showed a second successive monthly decline in manufacturing output, suggesting that it is not only countries whose currencies have appreciated of late, such as the US and UK, who are experiencing a slowdown in industrial activity. It will be interesting to see whether output also faltered in the euro area's second and third largest economies.
