This is the second year of the event with previous year having conducted a meet on "The greatest minds in cryptocurrency" from 25th to 28th May, 2016, which discussed on bitcoin and the blockchain. There will be panel discussions dealing with financial technology, security and global change which are the event’s three major themes.

Jamie Smith, former senior White House staffer and BitFury global chief of communications told the coindesk.com, “Once people are given an opportunity to explore new and interesting ideas and have open conversations, you never know what can come of that and that’s really exciting for us and those who are attending." He also stated that the downtime is planned to cultivate more collaborative environment between participants.

Also a partial guests list from CoinDesk shows that this time, half of the registered attendees are women. The event website stated that, this unique summit will welcome key global influencers in technology, civil society, democracy promotion and innovation to a riveting discussion about the world-changing potential applications of the Blockchain. I further stated that it will include but not limited to democracy promotion, cyber security, the sharing economy, voting and land titling. The website also posted a promo video of the upcoming event.
