Destiny 2 is out for those who bought physical copies, but the rest of the community is still waiting for the game to become available. Expecting a huge influx of players, Bungie is already sending out warnings that long waits on the server queue might happen. In related news, it would seem that the game’s microtransaction system might have an effect on the gameplay. This sparked questions asking if Destiny 2 is pay-to-win.
According to Bungie’s post with regards to potential server problems that players might encounter, the high traffic that is expected to occur over the next few days will likely cause some waiting issues. Looking at the finer points of the post, however, players might have some huge complaints with regards to how the queuing will be handled.
“During periods of high traffic, players may encounter the Destiny server login queue. Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 feature separate queues. Destiny server queues regulate player population to provide stable conditions for Destiny gameplay,” the post reads.
More to the point, it’s the fact that players who lose connections while queuing will be placed right at the back of the line and players who fail to connect once they do get to the front of the line will suffer the same fate that’s likely to cause the major outrage. After all, people hate waiting in line as it is. Getting booted off the line due to connection problems is just not going to go well with gamers.
Speaking of things that gamers hate, PCGamesN noticed that some of the items on the game’s microtransaction list seem to have an impact on gameplay. This includes shortening the cooldown time of abilities and even boosting a character’s stats. If the feature is permanent and applies to PVP, Destiny 2 officially becomes pay-to-win, which fans won’t be happy about.
