Briferendum Series: Leave still leads with 60 percent counted

In a nerve-wrecking vote counting things are going good neither for the incumbent government and Prime Minister David Cameron, nor is it going well for the European Union. With each vote counted hopes are diminishing for both the European Union and the United Kingdom and the future path is becoming clouded than ever.

With 61.8 percent of the votes counted, “Leave” camp is still leading though by a narrow margin. “Leave” camp is currently at 51.2 percent and “Remain” camp at 48.8 percent. Odds are increasingly looking in favor of leaving the European Union. Region wise data showed 45.4 percent voted in favor of staying in England, Wales voted 44.5 percent in favor of the “Remain” much lower than compared to 55.1 percent in Northern Ireland and 62.2 percent in Scotland.

The pound has dropped to lowest since the crisis before bouncing back a bit. Currently trading at 1.351 against the dollar.
