Briferendum Series: European leaders and media call on Britons to stay

Source - Daily Mail, FT

The European Union leaders and the media this week called on Britons to stay in the Union. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban bought a full-page ad in the Daily Mail, a UK-based newspaper to urge people to vote in favor of remaining the EU. The ad says, “I would like you to know that Hungary is proud to stand with you as a member of the European Union.” The image contained Mr. Orban’s signature. French companies like Airbus, BNP Paribas, Engie, Ingenico and Safran, bought ads in British newspapers urging people to remain.

Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council urged voters to stay by saying, “Stay with us. We need you. Without you, not only Europe, but the whole western community will become weaker.”

Several prominent newspapers in Europe has urged Britons to stay. German news magazine, Der Spiegel published a special edition and the front page says, “Please Don’t Go” printed against the Union Jack. Sweden’s biggest financial daily called on the British voters saying, “Take A Chance on EU”. Dutch daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad says at the front page “Don’t Leave Me This Way”, printed against the Jack.

Such overwhelming call for stay from Europe is very much likely to soothe Britons, who feel a lack of respect and influence of Britain inside the EU.
