Briferendum Series: End of Cameron’s career

Prime Minister David Cameron’s political gamble to win the 2015 election has worked in terms of the conservative party gaining an outright majority in the election but that’s not what he will be remembered for. In history, he was the Prime Minister of United Kingdom who steered the United Kingdom out of the European Union.

Whether this detachment benefits the United Kingdom or not would only be told by time, but this event marks the end of his political career and it is very much likely that he will not be the Prime Minister by the end of the year.

The arguments against him is quite clear. He will not be a better negotiator for Britain. His opponents will ask, how can he since all he wanted to do is to stay. This could very well mark the end of the prospect for George Osborne from ‘Team Cameron’ to become the future Prime Minister, at least not in near future. With 97 percent of the votes counted, “Leave” camp has secured 51.7 percent of all votes.

It is now only a matter of time before his position by the Brexiteers. Expect pound’s volatility to continue. The pound is currently trading at 1.341 against the dollar.
