Brexit Series: YouGov polls finds strong support for Brexit among voters

A recent YouGov poll has found strong support for Brexit among British voters and to the extent that voters remain ready to tolerate even some economic damage for the exit. Fully 61 percent of Leave voters say that they think that significant damage to the British economy to be a price worth paying for bringing Britain out of the European Union. Only one in five Leave voters (20 percent) is clear that such a price is too high for Brexit, the remaining 19 percent don’t know. YouGov polled 2043 leave voters. Surprisingly, the number is strong at 39 percent when asked whether the loss of their own job or that of a family member would be a price worth paying for bringing Britain out of the EU. Only 38 percent of the leave voters felt that it would be too high a price.

The poll also found some support for Brexit among remain voters. Only 19 percent of the remain voters say that they think that significant damage to the British economy to be a price worth paying for bringing Britain out of the European Union while 64 percent disagreed.

The poll has also found that the support to remain is not as extreme as that of exit. Only 34 percent of the 2,248 remain voters said that that they think that significant damage to the British economy to be a price worth paying for Britain remaining in the European Union.
