Brexit Series: Theresa May succumbs to pressure; announces resignation

The UK Prime Minister Theresa May has finally succumbed to pressure from within her own Conservative Party and announced that she would be resigning from her post effective June 7th.

  • The latest round of pressure came after her Conservative Party’s House leader Andrea Leadsom has resigned to protest Mrs. May last attempt to push one of the agreements, which according to her critics, is the old agreement which already failed to pass, just with added sweeteners. Andrea Leadsom’s resignation as Leader of the Commons marked the 36th ministerial resignation during May’s troubled tenure.

  • In Agreement with the European Union, Brexit has been delayed until October. However, Britain will remain unprepared even then if the political gridlock continues in Westminster.

  • All three attempts to pass Prime Minister May’s agreement failed miserably in the past and her fourth attempt seems to have finally cost her the Prime Minister's post. However, there could still be voting done on the fourth agreement.
