Boruto and his friends do not have much time to rest when it comes to rescuing Mitsuki. The preview for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79 hints at an upcoming battle that could prove the titular protagonist has, indeed, become stronger.
There is no doubt that Boruto’s fighting skills are strong, especially when he is with his closest friends. However, they will be facing another very powerful enemy in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79 who will defeat a Jounin-level ninja without exerting much effort.
This particular opponent is Kokuyou — a shinobi from the Hidden Stone Village who appears to be the leader of the group who “kidnapped” Mitsuki. Defeating him is most likely the last obstacle in Boruto and Mitsuki’s reunion in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79.
While Kokuyou seems hard to defeat considering Boruto, Sarada, and Shikadai’s current ninja level, a teaser from Japan confirmed that the three will emerge victorious in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79. The Twitter page Organic Dinosaur translated the synopsis, writing, “Boruto battles against Kakuyou, who has the strength to even defeat Jounin. It was a close battle, but they shake off their enemy.”

Shaking off a formidable foe, Boruto catches up with Mitsuki! Boruto battles against Kakuyou, who has the strength to even defeat jounin. It was a close battle, but they shake off their enemy. Finally, they manage a reunion with Mitsuki!? pic.twitter.com/tg71cPWiZ9
The wording in the same synopsis implies that a reunion with Mitsuki is not guaranteed yet. But “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79 is titled “A Reunion with Mitsuki...!!" and it would be absurd if what the title promises does not end up happening.
Now that Boruto and Mitsuki’s reunion seems like a done deal, the next question is, will Mitsuki go back to Konoha with Sarada, Boruto, and Shikadai? There are several clues telling fans that it might not be the case in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79.
Viewers might have noticed that Mitsuki does not seem in distress. Even in this battle scene preview for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79, he seems to be fully on board with running away with Sekiei towards the Land of Earth. And these create several possibilities.
Did Mitsuki turn on Konoha and will he side with Hidden Stone Village? Or is he simply looking for more answers about his identity and struggling to find his real purpose? Whatever Mitsuki’s reason is, fans will surely pick up more clues once “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 79 comes out on Oct. 28.
