‘Boruto’ Episode 72 Air Date, Spoilers: Ageless Tsunade Returns; Will Mitsuki’s Arc Feature the Ryuchi Cave?

The preview for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 72 confirmed that Tsunade Senju is returning to the anime franchise. But a mystery lies within Mitsuki's arc that involves the Ryuchi Cave.

Events leading up to “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 72 include the Five Kage Summit. But it looks like some of the former and still living Kage will be making an appearance in the upcoming episodes. Onoki was featured in the previous episode and now he is followed by Tsunade.

Fans will also notice that Tsunade is definitely an ageless being. She looks exactly the same as she was in the early episodes of “Naruto” and in the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 72 preview.

Tsunade already made a brief appearance in the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 72 video teaser. She is seen talking to Naruto in the current Hokage’s office and her return might have something to do with Mitsuki.

ComicBook suggests a possibility that Mitsuki is a defector from the Hidden Leaf Village. Mitsuki could eventually find his way to work with Orochimaru and, together, cause another havoc in the Shinobi world. Naruto cannot let that happen, so he likely asks for Tsunade's help, leading to her return. There is also a possibility that Mitsuki just wants more answers about his identity and still be a good ninja. Either way, more clues are likely going to be revealed in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 72.

Though the Mitsuki arc is just at the beginning, avid fans are certainly hoping that this plot will introduce the Ryuchi Cave in the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” series. The chances that it is happening in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 72 are slim but, who knows, maybe the episode will provide a surprise (but short) glimpse of the mysterious place.

In the end, the appearance of the Ryuchi Cave is inevitable in the “Boruto” series. About six months ago, fans spotted an update in the franchise’s data book that gave more details about the White Snake Sage living in the Ryuchi Cave. Since then, fans have known that a Mitsuki arc is in the pipeline and they will see it happening in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 72 airing on Sept. 6.
