BitPay brings BitPay bitcoin wallet to Windows Phone

BitPay, a leading bitcoin payment processor, has announced the launch of its BitPay wallet app on Windows Phone.

The Windows Phone store release has been requested by many users ever since the BitPay wallet was launched. The company had earlier launched its Copay wallet in the Windows Store in early 2015 and said that it has been the most popular wallet option for bitcoin users on the Windows Phone platform.

In its official blog post, BitPay said that its wallet application integrates the ease-of-use and security of the Copay wallet with its consumer payments ecosystem, particularly its prepaid Visa debit card for bitcoin users. It added:

“Bringing the BitPay wallet to the Windows Phone is only a small part of our work affecting Microsoft users in recent years. In late 2015, Microsoft added our Bitcore Bitcoin development platform to its Azure cloud service platform. Back in 2014, Microsoft became the most prominent company accepting bitcoin payments, using BitPay for Xbox payments and other purchases its online Windows Store.

“Microsoft's continued commitment to blockchain technology and interest in smart contracts makes our bitcoin wallet platform – the foundation of many exciting smart contract projects – a powerful addition to the Windows Phone app ecosystem.”
