‘Animal Kingdom’ Season 4 Air Date, Spoilers: New Teaser Clip Shows Pope Becoming More Unstable

“Animal Kingdom” Season 4 recently released a trailer for its next installment and Smurf (Ellen Barkin) took center stage once more. Typical of Smurf’s personality, the Cody matriarch dominates the screen with imposing dialogue and outright threats, TVLine reported.

In the clip, J (Finn Cole) appears to have attracted the ire of Smurf although it’s unclear how exactly the young Cody earned it. “Animal Kingdom” Season 4 will also have the whole family undertake more and more dangerous heists as the boys were seen robbing a bank and getting chased by the police.

Meanwhile, Pope’s (Shawn Hatosy) unstable mental condition continues to spiral out of control with Smurf looming over the oldest Cody. To make matters worse, Pope appears to have stepped into the world of mix-martial arts in “Animal Kingdom” Season 4.

Although the teaser didn’t exactly show who was fighting in the cage, Pope’s bruised-up face points at this direction. Smurf may have a hand in this development to provide Pope with an outlet for his rage. The move certainly has precedent as Smurf has been secretly medicating the eldest Cody in an attempt to control his behavior. “Animal Kingdom” Season 4 will also have Pope deal with a recurring character.

Angela (Emily Deschanel) will be having a more vital role in the upcoming entry as she tries to weasel her way into the Cody household. She’ll have some influence over Pope since she’s the best friend of Pope’s dead sister. But that is as far as her charm will go. “Animal Kingdom” Season 4 will have Smurf and J be outright hostile towards her.

As for the release date of the fourth installment, the trailer didn’t provide any information about this front. However, it’s expected that “Animal Kingdom” Season 4 will be coming out sometime between May and July similar to what TNT has done to its previous entries.
