Adidas AG and Manchester United have inked a monumental $1.2 billion partnership deal, extending their iconic collaboration by another decade. This deal fortifies Adidas as the official kit supplier for Manchester United, marking one of the most substantial sponsorship contracts in Premier League history.
The new contract signed by Adidas and Manchester United is worth a massive $1.2 billion. The German company started supplying uniforms to the football club in the 1980-1992 season then the partnership resumed at the start of the 2015-2016 season. This year, both parties agreed to continue working via a new sponsorship agreement.
This means Adidas will still be providing kits to the British club, and with the size of their deal, it has become one of the biggest sponsorship contracts in the Premier League. This is also the largest that Manchester United has ever had since leaving Nike in 2015, as per CNN Business.
The popular football club said that its latest collaboration with Adidas excited its fans worldwide as well because there will be new designs for apparel and other items. Fans love to wear apparel with the logo and name of their favorite football club; thus, Adidas will also release culture wear with Manchester United’s emblem.
“The relationship between Manchester United and Adidas is one of the most iconic in world sport, forged through a shared commitment to style, flair and, most importantly, high performance,” Richard Arnold, Manchester United’s chief executive officer, stated in a press release. “With its roots in the 1980s, our partnership has been reinvented over the past decade with some of the most innovative designs and technology in sportswear. We are now looking forward to refreshing this powerful partnership again through the remainder of this decade and into the 2030s.”
Adidas’s CEO, Bjorn Gulden, said, “We are extremely proud to announce the extension of the contract with Manchester United. adidas and Manchester United are two of the most important brands in international football and it is very natural for us to continue our cooperation. We will combine tradition and innovation to please both the players and the fans.”
