AMHERST, N.Y., Feb. 20, 2018 -- ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage, network connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments for 30 years, today reaffirmed its commitment to the open source community by announcing illumos support for 32Gb and 16Gb Celerity™ host bus adapters (HBAs).
ATTO Celerity™ Gen 6 32Gb and 16Gb HBAs address the challenges created by the exponential data growth from applications such as high-performance computing and data warehousing, along with the proliferation of virtualized servers and flash arrays by providing fast, redundant and highly available connectivity to Fibre Channel storage. Engineered to manage latency for real-time applications, ATTO Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) technology provides controlled data acceleration of data to deliver the industry’s highest consistent performance and reliable data transfers.
Derived from OpenSolaris, illumos is a fully open community project to develop a reliable and scalable operating system. iIllumos distributions use ZFS, a combined file system and logical volume manager, making it useful in big data environments. In addition to ZFS, illumos uses DTrace, a dynamic tracing framework for troubleshooting in real-time, and Solaris Zones for the implementation of operating system level virtualization. Illumos remains the platform choice for those seeking improved performance, observability, security and reliability.
“Our decades-long experience of delivering reliable first-to-market Fibre Channel storage connectivity solutions means that illumos users can now benefit from proven advances in high-performance storage access,” said Tom Kolniak, Senior Director of Marketing at ATTO Technology. “With the addition of illumos support for ATTO Celerity 32Gb and 16Gb Fibre Channel HBAs, software defined storage infrastructures gain additional options to address today’s complex storage challenges, while laying the foundation for tomorrow’s all-flash datacenters.”
ATTO 32Gb and 16Gb Celerity™ HBAs currently support NexentaStor, Nexenta’s flagship OpenSDS, and OpenIndiana OS distributions.
