Olympics is already running, and as always, people are getting ready to witness the biggest event which takes place every 4 years in the different countries of the world. One part of the games, which most people find interesting, is the abundant games present in the global event. However, we have noticed that there are certain games, which are not on the Olympic list but are actually important enough to be featured there.
Many people have tried looking into why these sports do not make the cut of games, which the International Olympic Committee decides to put out in each of the events. Currently, there is a total of over 75 games present in the Olympics. The organizers have alluded to adding more events to the regular we are used to over the years. The games they are to add range from sport climbing, squash, bowling, karate, roller sports, baseball, surfing, and some others. Nevertheless, in this article, we want to look into 6 important games that ought to feature in the Olympics but are currently not featured.
Cricket
Cricket is mostly seen as a British sport, and asides from soccer, it is the second sport, which is most watched across the globe today. The sport has over 2.5 billion fans who are intrigued and stuck to their screen whenever the sport is being played. It is noteworthy that in the initial opening of the Olympics, cricket was one of the first games to be released in the modern era. It was still around in the year 1896, but for one reason or the other, it has been taken out. Who knows, it could be one of the reasons why the Best Bitcoin betting sites and other casino operators have not accepted it as one of their games
Most people have the feeling that it was because there were limited people coming out to participate in the contest. Some other people allude to the sport being played in the year 1900 and considering the massive fanbase of this sport, we are of the belief that the game is considered important. Therefore, the game just has to come back into the Olympics, if not for anything, but for the lingo which cricket players use in describing terms in the sport.
Polo
Much as this sport is loved by many, we have found that it is a favorite of a certain economic class. The people in the level above the middle class, and even some middle class, use this sport as a pastime. So even if the lower rung of the ladder is interested in the fun-filled sport with horses going around the field, not everyone can afford the huge expense it comes with.
The organizers of the Olympics, probably had the cost in mind, especially as there is a whole lot of things to put in place. If all of the funds to be used for several sports is deposited into obtaining the over 5 hectares of land needed for the sport, as well as the over 25 horses that are required. Even if each of the team comes with their horses or ponies, the cost of moving the horses from one country to another is something nobody would want to invest in. So, much as we love for the game to come into the Olympics, it is looking like a dream that might not be able to come to pass. Also, some allude to the fact that polo has been around since the year 1936, and the extravagant sport has not made its way back, probably due to the reasons we have outlined earlier.
American Football
American football is one of the sports that the US has an advantage over when compared to other countries. People acclaim that it has been seen in the Olympics in the year 1932, and we would want to see how this fun game would play out in modern times.
Darts
The issue with darts is that a fraction of the population has the belief that darts is a sport that is for drunks, and those who do not want to exert energy into any sport. Nevertheless, darts is actually a sport and is not just played by drunks. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) probably has all of this in mind, which has warranted its exclusion on the list of sports for the Olympics.
So many dart players train on a daily basis and are in wait for when they will finally be called upon to participate in the world-class game. The IOC has still not recognized the body, which stands as the governing organization for dart players, and this stands as another major reason why the sport has still not been recognized as fitting for the Olympics. Several organizations in charge of dart players round the world have put in efforts to ensure that the dream of darts being accepted comes to pass. The IOC alludes that it might become included in the 2024 games, but nobody knows for sure.
Squash
Over 17 million people play squash globally, but as with most IOC regulations when it comes to rejecting sports they are not familiar with, this was also turned down. The IOC chose to accept wrestling, and left squash out of the games selected to be exhibited in Paris, 2024.
Squash happens to follow the guidelines needed to accept any new sport into the Olympics. Such criteria include having a body organizing the general affairs of the sport, as well as being a sport, which is innovative and supports youth engagement. Squash players have come out in masses to make a protest as to the IOC being unfair in their choices. Much as we know they would have their reasons for excluding this sport, we still think the sport should be given a trial.
Bowling
Bowling was present in the Olympics in the summer games of Seoul. But, we are made to know that it has a history that goes back to the Egyptians of ancient times. The sport was brought into the Olympic games temporarily as a sport showing demonstration, and just 20 countries participated in it.
