Laptops have always been second-best to desktop computers when it comes to sheer gaming performance, but this has been changing over the past few years. Now, Razer has the Blade Pro laptop that combines an insane amount of power in an incredibly thin unit. The only catch is the price, which is equally as insane.
The latest iteration of the 17-inch Razer Blade Pro has been overhauled to have the best of practically everything, The Verge reports. For starters, it has an amazingly responsive mechanical keyboard, which makes intense gaming sessions a lot smoother.
In terms of performance, the Blade Pro also sports an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with 2.6GHz of power. The GPU is Nvidia’s monstrous GTX 1080 and storage is in SSD form that packs up to 2TB in space. Oh, and the RAM is a 32GB, 2,113MHz DDR4 unit for the standard package.
For those who want an even faster performance speed for online gaming, the Blade Pro also comes with a network interface card with Killer DoubleShot Pro, which makes for excellent gigabit Ethernet internet gaming sessions. The USB-C is getting some TLC as well, which also functions as a Thunderbolt 3 jack and can handle bandwidth going up for 40 Gbps.
For those who are expecting 4K resolution, the Razer Blade Pro will deliver. Its 17-inch screen sports a resolution of 3840 x 2160 with an IGZO panel, and it’s also got Nvidia sync support. Finally, the display is a touchscreen, so that’s something relatively new.
By the way, the whole thing costs $3, 699, CNET reports, which is a doozy when compared to even some high-end desktops. According to Razer product manager Kevin Sather, they made the laptop for a very select demographic.
"It's definitely not for everybody," he says. "It's for people who need to get the most out of a PC."
