iPhone 11 Release Date, Specs, Leaks: Triple-Lens Camera Confirmed?

iPhone 11, or iPhone XI, is now rumored to have a significant design and hardware specs overhaul. A phone case design was leaked recently suggesting that Apple’s next flagship smartphone will have a triple-lens rear camera.

Slashleaks user DIMITRI12 uploaded three photos on Thursday suggesting that those are renders for a phone case design for the iPhone 11. At first glance, smartphone fans will quickly recognize that the most interesting part is in the rear part. On the top left side, there is a sizeable square-shaped provision of where the camera setup is supposed to be placed.

It is a major change from the oval-shaped dual-camera alignment that the world has seen on iPhone X in 2017 and iPhone XS in 2018. The same source shows that the bigger cut-out on the phone case is meant to house the triple-lens camera and an LED flash. It has been rumored to be one of the biggest upgrades Apple has in store for iPhone 11.

The leaker has a 91 percent accuracy rating on Slashleaks out of 482 leak reports. It is also not uncommon for phone case makers to be the source of these types of information as they typically get tips from so-called industry sources. However, it is still safe to categorize this one as a mere iPhone 11 rumor. There are several months left before the device is to be announced and that could be enough for Apple to apply some changes.

There are also reports that Apple wants to maintain a three-device lineup for this year — two with an OLED display and one with an LCD panel. So if the triple-lens camera is finalized, it is possible that it could be an exclusive feature to the most premium iPhone 11 variant.

Apple is not expected to confirm or deny these rumors until the day when they are officially unveiling iPhone 11. In the past years, the tech giant has been doing that in September.
