"eFootball 2022" players continue to receive frustrating news following the game's tumultuous launch. The promised patch 1.0.0 that should fix some of the biggest bugs in the game is now scheduled to launch in 2022, along with the mobile version of the football sim.
Konami made sweeping changes to its football sim franchise this year. Aside from rebranding it from "Pro Evolution Soccer" to "eFootball," the developer made the game free-to-play while hinting at future content having microtransactions. But these changes do not appear to be the main source of frustration among fans.
One of the first major patches, version 1.0.0, was expected to address these bugs. It was supposed to arrive this week, but Konami recently announced that it had been delayed to an unspecified date in spring 2022.
"We are working as hard as possible to deliver an experience that our players expect and deserve by Spring 2022," the developer wrote in an official statement. "We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience."
An important update from the development team.

Aside from the gameplay bugs, many players have also complained about the state of the "eFootball 2022" graphics and visuals. Konami has already apologized for the quality of the game at launch and promised to release major updates to address these concerns.
Fans only have to look at the current user reviews of "eFootball 2022" to see how lukewarm the welcome was for the game when it launched last September. Critics were not impressed either. The game's PC version currently has a score of 25 (out of 100) on PC on Metacritic from aggregated critic reviews. It has also garnered "overwhelmingly negative" reviews on Steam so far.
Konami was also supposed to release the "eFootball 2022" for mobile devices this fall. But it has also been delayed until spring next year. The developer has yet to decide on what happens to players' "eFootball 2021" Points that were set to expire this year. But Konami said it is currently trying to determine how the points can still be used in "eFootball 2022."
While the game is free-to-play, Konami also offered a Premium Player Pack for $34.99. The bundle includes the base game, 2,800 eFootball Coins, and a total of eight Chance deals. But Konami also announced that those who pre-ordered this pack would receive automatic refunds following the delays.
