Alberto Filgueiras

Dr. Alberto Filgueiras is an experienced academic and practitioner with more than 17 years of experience in Sport and Exercise Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. In academia, he began teaching in Brazil at private universities back in 2012. Then moved to the UK, where he taught diverse psychological topics from 2022 to 2024. He arrived in Australia to work as a Senior Lecturer in CQUniversity leading the Cross-cultural Psychology and Health Psychology Units. Dr. Filgueiras' academic career focuses on research in imagery, motivation, and techniques in the enhancement of mental skills in sports. Alberto has had this work recognized and published in several journals of repute, including Brain Imaging and Behaviour, Frontiers in Psychology, and Plos ONE.

As a practitioner, Dr. Filgueiras comes as an experienced applied Sport Psychologist and Mental Skills Coach with a background in the industry dating back to 2007. His career started in the Youth Academy of Flamengo Soccer Club, in Brazil, where he started as an intern and became a professional. Since then, Alberto has broadened his horizon and worked in more than 20 different sports with athletes from 13 nationalities, being responsible for guiding numerous Elite and Olympic athletes in developing their performance.
