Bianca Chigbu is a final year Ph.D candidate in Sociology of work and economics at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa. Her thesis circles on technological domination and the future of workers in the labour market in the face of automation. She sees it necessary to understand technologies in the labour process, its alignment to the economy, its evolution, and the developmental implications in society. She taught courses in research methodology in sociology, introduction to sociology, sociology of development, and supervised four honours mini-dissertation in the department of human settlement at the University of Fort Hare.
Bianca has also been working as a research assistant in the Department of Sociology. She holds a BSocSc in Human Resource Management and further completed a Master of Social Science study titled: employment-readiness of four cohorts of prospective university graduates. Her research interests include labour relations, sustainable development, poverty, education, innovation, equality, and flexible to engage in a range of other research interests that will drive public good and socioeconomic change.
