Mneesha Gellman

Associate Professor of Political Science, Emerson College
I am an Associate Professor of Political Science in Emerson College's Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies. I do research on the rights of minority and vulnerable populations in the US, Mexico, El Salvador, and Turkey, all in the context of political violence, with an emphasis on institutional violence.

As a Latin Americanist, I focus on political violence against a range of particular social groups in Mexico and El Salvador, including indigenous peoples, woman, and political dissidents, and this work has brought me into the role of volunteer expert witness for country conditions in numerous asylum cases in US courts.

I am also the founder and Director of the Emerson Prison Initiative, which brings college programming into a state prison in MA. Visit epi.emerson.edu for more about our work.
