When Ubisoft announced that the second “Beyond Good & Evil” game is in development, fans of the first were absolutely ecstatic. Many had believed that the sequel had gone the way of so many others that got canceled. To celebrate this great news, Ubisoft is giving away the first game for a whole month. The offer ends on mid-November.
For Windows users who want the game, Polygon reports that it’s as easy as signing into Uplay and then getting the game there. The announcement for the freebie couldn’t have been better timed either. The excitement generated by news of the sequel is still getting the blood of fans pumping.
For those who haven’t even played the first game, the giveaway is also the perfect opportunity to get to know what all the fuss is about. Even with the game coming out 13 years ago, it still maintains a huge following among those who were blown away by the impressive gameplay and interesting characters.
By today’s standard, it does feel a bit dated, especially compared to other titles in the same genre. However, much of this applies largely to the graphics, so modern players who aren’t particularly picky when it comes to that aspect can still enjoy it.
The freebie isn’t just about celebrating news of the sequel, however, as it is also about part of Ubisoft’s 30th Anniversary monthly giveaway promo. Every month, one game made by the company will be available for download. It just so happens that this month, “Beyond Good & Evil 1” is next on the platter.
Ubisoft has been teasing fans of news about the sequel since 2008, Venture Beat reports. It went quiet after a while, which prompted gamers to think that it was never going to come out. Evidently, the developers were just taking their time to make an even better game than the previous trailer showed.
