Facebook-owned WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging services worldwide. It crossed 900 million monthly active users in September, NDTV Gadgets reported. The app itself is very easy to use and besides text messages, it allows sharing photos, videos, voice messages and even calling people in the friendlist from within the app.
According to a recent report from a German website, WhatsApp may soon get video-calling feature. The website has posted screenshots from WhatsApp for iOS that show an ongoing video call.
MacerKopf says that the current version of WhatsApp in the iOS App Store carries the number 2.12.12. However, the developers and beta testers are reportedly testing 2.12.16.2 version.
“The developers are now working on a video chat feature, as we know, for example, FaceTime or Skype. You can make calls with a WhatsApp friend future not only by voice, but also via video chat”, according to Google translated version of the website. “You can also mute and switch between the front and rear camera.”
MacerKopf also said the WhatsApp developers are working on a new design with main focus on the color "green". In addition, tabs are tested, which will allow users to quickly change between individual chats without the need to return to the chat list to switch between chats.
