Western Aircraft Named Authorized Dealer for SmartSky 4G LTE
Equipment Sales and Installation
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Another proven industry leader partners with SmartSky Networks as the nationwide network rollout of SmartSky 4G LTE continues. Western Aircraft, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, will serve as an authorized dealer for hardware sales and installation of SmartSky’s innovative technology. Boise, Idaho-based Western Aircraft will sell and install SmartSky equipment across many business jet models using STC licenses obtained from SmartSky’s earliest distribution partners.
“Business aviation operators demand all the benefits that 4G LTE air-to-ground (ATG) Wi-Fi can provide,” says Western Aircraft Avionics Sales Manager Walt Marcy. “SmartSky’s technology ensures their aircraft will be fully capable business and communication hubs in the sky. SmartSky meets the needs of this marketplace with excellent value for our customers.”
SmartSky’s patented 4G LTE beamforming technology delivers a secure signal that locks onto each aircraft in the network, ensuring high performance regardless of network loading. Its broadband connectivity system will provide service over the continental United States using an ATG platform that leverages 60 MHz of spectrum, 20 times more than the incumbent, to open up full-throttle, unrestricted access to the web. SmartSky provides 10 times the typical speed of the current ATG provider, rivaling speeds of 4G Wi-Fi customers use on the ground in their homes and businesses.
Western Aircraft customers who sign up during SmartSky’s limited-time nationwide Network Launch Promotion will receive bonus data, including an unlimited option (subject to terms and conditions). Customers will harness the power of real-time video and voice communication without overage fees. They can use all the data they want for an affordable, fixed monthly fee.
“Western Aircraft is coming onboard at a perfect time,” says SmartSky Networks Vice President of Business Aviation Alan Goodnight. “The Network Launch Promotion offers an unprecedented value for Wi-Fi that provides an industry-best connectivity solution to business aviation customers. Western Aircraft’s decades of installation expertise serves customers well in a key region of the country.”
SmartSky 4G LTE stands apart as the only inflight network capable of offering services where bidirectional high bandwidth and low latency are essential. This includes the use of two-way, live- streaming video or in support of applications specifically designed to take advantage of this capability, such as Flight 5D, a Skytelligence™-powered app that optimizes fuel burn, saves flight time and accounts in real-time for air traffic, airspace and weather dynamics. Western Aircraft customers signing up during the Network Launch Promotion will also receive two years of free, unrestricted access to Flight 5D.
