‘Wayward Pines’ season 2’s episode 5 will feature Megan’s experimentation of the captured Abbie in an attempt to find a solution to kill off all the creatures for good. However, she may miss a vital clue in her obsession.
The synopsis stated on International Business Times stated, “Rebecca recalls first meeting Pilcher as an architect and the creation of Wayward Pines is revealed. Theo is shocked by a secret Rebecca divulges to him; Teresa tells CJ and Adam she wants to live outside the protected walls as Megan experiments on the first female Abbie that has been captured in the all-new "Sound The Alarm" episode of Wayward Pines.”
The incoming episode’s promo opened to a scene in a laboratory where an Abbie is strapped on an examining table. Megan (Hope Davis) is seen studying the subject intensely. She takes the Abbie’s palm covered in mysterious markings and says, “It could be something anthropological.”
An article on Hall of Fame Magazine suggested that Megan may overlook a vital clue in her obsession to find a solution for killing off Abbies. It also noted that one scene from the promo teased that the female Abbie in detention looks to be communicating with her kind in what seems to be the superhuman power of telepathy. The promo also showed a short clip of two ferocious-looking male Abbies in full attack mode.
The preceding episode, entitled “Exit Strategy”, featured the return of Adam Hassler (Tim Griffin), Ethan’s superior at the secret service. Adam was last seen in the series’ first season. It was revealed that Adam had been living and surviving outside the fence for the past 12 years and learned the true existence of the Abbies.
He warned Theo (Jason Patric) that the creatures from beyond the fence "are not our enemy, they are replacements".
Griffin likened his character to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Hugh Glass in Alejandro G. Inarritu’s historical action-drama film ‘The Revenant’. He said, "I’m completely changed. I've gone mountain man like Leo DiCaprio in The Revenant. I haven't made contact with anyone in 12 years. It's a total mind trip. What's really fun is we shoot flashbacks so you can see what I look like back when I'm the head of the Secret Service--very clean cut and by the book."
He teased, "Many big twists. The big secret in Season 1 was like what is the matrix... what is Wayward Pines? Now that we know what Wayward Pines is, they delve deeper into who are the Abbies."
‘Wayward Pines’ season 2’s episode 5 is scheduled to premiere on Fox on June 22, 2016.
