Four US states, went to vote on March 8th, Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan and Mississippi for the republican side, while Democrats contested in Michigan and Mississippi. Donald Trump from republican side and Hilary Clinton from the Democrats made considerable gains.
- With 97% reporting, Idaho, went to Ted Cruz, who secured 14 delegates, followed by Donald Trump with 10. 8 delegates are yet to be allotted.
- Michigan went to Mr. Trump, who secured 25 delegates, followed by 17 each for both Ted Cruz and John Kasich.
- Mississippi again went to Trump, who secured 24 delegates, followed by Cruz with 13. 3 delegates are yet to be allotted.
- With 60% reporting Trump is leading in Hawaii with 45.7% of votes, followed by Ted Cruz with 31.3%.
Third runner Marco Rubio failed to secure 10% of votes in all states except Hawaii.
Donald Trump is now firmly leading the race with 446 delegates, followed by Ted Cruz with 347, Marco Rubio with 151 and John Kasich with 54 delegates.
On the democratic side,
- With 99% reporting Sanders won 65 delegates in Michigan, followed by Clinton with 58. 7 delegates yet to be allotted.
- Big win in Mississippi for Clinton, who secured 29 delegates compared to 4 for Sanders. 3 delegates yet to be allotted.
Front runner Clinton is well ahead with 1221 delegates, while Mr. Bernie has about 571.
