Deborah Ayorinde may be sharing the screen once again in “True Detective” season 3 with Luke Cage alumnus Mahershala Ali, who played Cottonmouth in the Marvel Netflix series.
Ayorinde, who played Candace Miller in “Luke Cage's” first season, has tweeted via her personal account about the confirmed casting for HBO's third season of “True Detective.”

“True Detective” season 3 has been revealed to take place in the Ozarks, and will involve a not-so-compressed timeline for its story.
Mahershala Ali will play Wayne Hayes, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas. While not much detail has been revealed regarding Deborah Ayorinde's casting, it seems that she will find herself tied closely once again to one of Ali's characters. Luckily enough for her, Ayovinde, who appears in "Girls Trip," may not necessarily end up like her previous “Luke Cage” character, who gets killed due to her relationship with Ali's Cottonmouth.
Deadline has reported that she will play Wayne Hayes' estranged daughter, Becca Hayes. While this does not make her untouchable considering the nature of the “True Detective” series' brand of storytelling, there is some hope that Wayne Hayes will be there in some capacity to rescue his daughter should the plot turn that way.
“True Detective” season 3 is currently being spearheaded by Nic Pizzolatto, the show's original showrunner. Pizzolatto has brought on board David Milch to help with the series's writing. Milch is reported to co-write the season's fourth episode.
Alongside Ayorinde and Ali, Stephen Dorff will play Haye's partner. Ray Fisher, of DC's Cyborg fame, has been cast as Hayes's son. Hayes's son may have a bigger role to play in the third season's story as a 9-year-old version of Hayes's son will be played by Lonnie Chavis from the TV series “This is Us.”
While there is no official air date yet, expect “True Detective” season 3 to air in sometime in 2019.
