‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ recently revealed new images of Bumblebee and Megatron’s newest designs. Althugh Bumblebee looks relatively the same from his previous appearances, Megatron looks significantly upgraded.
According to /Film, new concept art for Bumblebee has been released featuring the iconic character in his Autobot form. Images previously released only showed Bumblebee in his vehicle form. Although not much has been altered from his appearance – he still had his signature flaps that resemble wings – his armor has been redesigned to look more insect-like.
Bumblebee joins other Autobots in Michael Bay’s film including returning leader Optimus Prime, Drift, Squeeks, and the iconic Hot Rod. A standalone spin-off film for the character is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2018.
Megatron will also be returning as the series’ villain and has also been redesigned to look fiercer than ever. According to Cinema Blend, new concept art released showed the Decepticon in his full black armor glory. Unlike Bumblebee, Megatron looks significantly different in comparison to his previous forms in the preceding films.
The character was first introduced on the big screen in Bay’s first ever film in the live-action cinematic franchise based on Hasbro’s popular toy line of the same name. Megatron was the feared leader of the Decepticons that transformed into a silver Cybertronian jet. He was voiced by Hugo Weaving although original voice-actor Fank Welker was originally considered for the project.
Weaving returned to reprise his role on the 2009 sequel ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ as well as in the 2011 follow-up ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’. Megatron later possessed Galvatron, a human-made KSI Transformer modeled after Optimus Prime, in the 2014 sequel ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’.
Mark Wahlberg is set to reprise his role as lead human protagonist Cade Yeager. Other members of the new cast include Laura Haddock, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins, Isabela Moner, Tyrese Gibson, Ken Watanabe, and Peter Cullen.
‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ is an upcoming 3D action-adventure and science-fiction film directed by Michael Bay and written by Matt Holloway, Art Marcum, and Ken Nolan. It is the direct sequel to ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ and is the fifth installment in the highly popular cinematic series.
It is scheduled to be released on June 23, 2017 and is produced by Hasbro and Paramount Pictures.
